Is ‘The Black Phone’ Streaming on HBO Max or Netflix?

After years of playing the fun and down-to-earth guy, Ethan Hawke will be a full-fledged serial killer in Black Phonecoming to the cinema this weekend.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, who also wrote a script with C. Robert Cargill, the film is adapted from the 2004 short story of the same name by Joe Hill (aka Stephen King’s son). It takes place in a small town in Colorado in 1978, where a mad masked killer, known as “The Grabber,” kidnaps and kills children. His final victim, a boy named Finney (played by Mason Thames) is locked in a basement with nothing but a disconnected phone. On the phone, Finney hears voices… and they might be able to help him escape.
