My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 has been confirmed since April 2021, although production has slowed due to the pandemic.

The sequel will be dedicated to Michael Constantine, who played Gus and died in August 2021, and will follow the wedding of Toula (Vardalos) and Ian (John Corbett) daughters, Paris (via Deadlines).

Following Constantine’s death last year, Vardalos paid tribute to his co-star and shared an Instagram post with the caption: “He told me he would not be able to join us for a third film and his wish is for us to continue.

“I wrote the screenplay to reflect Michael’s decision and will always cherish his last message to me, hoping we shoot soon.”

The original 2002 film follows Toula, a single woman whose deeply Greek family wants her to marry a Greek man, but she falls in love and marries American teacher Ian instead.

In the 2016 sequel, Toula and Ian have a 17-year-old daughter they raise in the house her parents gave her, while trying to rekindle the spark in their marriage.

Fans last saw Paris (Elena Kampouris) invite her longtime boyfriend Bennett (Alex Wolff) to the prom. While it has not been confirmed whether Paris will marry Bennett, the ending suggests that it is a real possibility.

My Fat Big Greek Wedding was a smash hit, grossing a sleepover hit of over $360 million on a $5 million budget and earning Vardalos an Oscar nomination for the screenplay.

Release date for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 still not announced.
