After launching in March this year, Phobies has provided players with over 120 adorable (yet deadly) creatures that offer a hilarious take on humanity’s deepest fears and phobias.
So far we’ve seen mechanical monkeys, killer clowns, and bulging farm animals among the wacky beasts players can throw into battle. Now, following a new alien-invasion themed update, 13 extraterrestrial Phobias are making their debut in the game, along with 5 new maps, and a new haunting environment.
While the skies seem limitless for the potential creatures we could see populating Phobia’s hexagonal battlefield, we thought we’d tip the creators of the game and their latest update by picking out some of our favorite famous aliens who could easily find their home in the phobic universe.
So, as we’ll be making a lot of reference films on our list, here are the Good, Bad, and Ugly aliens we’d like to see added to the Phobies universe.
Starting the list, we have a fan favorite, and that is the Autobots led by Optimus Prime. Yes, these robots are actually aliens, and since we already have some pretty neat Mechanized heroes (like Fishtank, Jar Cannon, and Cowbell), a convoy of Autobots would make a perfect addition to the game.
Arguably one of the most famous creatures on the list, ET is the epitome of “kind” aliens. He would fall into the Monster category, and would probably make a great support character in the world of Phobias. Maybe he could use his iconic bike to ride across the battlefield?
He had coffee yesterday – making it perfect for the world of Phobias where coffee is a valuable resource needed to recruit new Phobies into the mix. The benevolent and ill-treated Quermian Jedi Master rose to prominence in the classic Star Wars Robot Chicken special, and he’ll be comfortable with a board seat in Phobies. Also a shout out to The Neebles from Men In Black, as well as the coffee-friendly aliens.
The bad one
Moving on to the next category, we have the bringer of destruction, the embodiment of all evil, the Yautja, who are better known to many of their enemies as the Predators. Famous from the film of the same name, Predators’ only goal is to hunt and they can easily become one of the top tier Monsters in Phobies if released into the game!
A strong and intelligent xenomorph, Queen Alien is a character we’ve seen fighting Predators in “Alien vs Predator” – we can easily imagine this powerful alien as a Monster-type character, dealing massive melee damage and slashing at the opponent she’s facing, the Predator. or vice versa.
While it doesn’t have a definite name, the insect that hails from the planet Klendathu in this “Starship Troopers” movie is an Arachnid (or Pseudo-Arachnid if you want to be more accurate) and it’s creepy and crawling in every way. of the word. In Phobies, it can be used as a crawling Monster, similar to Jar Cannon or AWOL.
the ugly one
We already have something similar to Graboid from “Tremor” on Phobies, but nothing quite like it. If we took Suckee and Creep and translated them into a new Fear, we might end up with something more or less similar to Graboid. As for its nature, we might be able to see it as a Monster in the ranks of Phobies.
To conclude the list, we have one of the most disturbing creatures from the X-Files, the Flukeman. Even though it’s not an “alien”, but more of a humanoid parasitic “thing” combined with a fluke worm, it does look like the mighty Undead creature we’d like to see adapted into Fear. Incidentally, Flukeman has an indirect relationship with Phobia, with the design of the humanoid worm costume created by the late Bill Terezakis, who was a close friend of Smoking Gun Interactive’s CEO, John Johnson.
